Interior Designer: J Miller Interiors

It makes me so happy to see how all the wonderfully talented interior designers use my designs in their own unique way and with such unexpected combinations. I will be profiling some of the designers who have used my products so beautifully in a series of blog posts on here to celebrate their work and to provide inspiration to customers about to embark on decorating their homes.

Today I want to show you the work of Julia Miller, owner of Minneapolis based residential interior design company J Miller Interiors, launched only last year in 2019. Julia was a clinical social worker for 15 years before deciding to change direction dramatically for a career in interior design. After renovating her own home, she realised just how much she loved the design process and started taking clients soon after. “Interior design to me is far more than just pretty finishes, it's creating a home” she says. Julia specialises in creating restorative and meaningful spaces for her clients, using neutral colours and introducing warmth with texture and natural materials, adding interesting details with future heirlooms.

Julia used Seascape wallpaper in Winter for her own son’s nursery “Seascape was an easy choice! When I saw it online it immediately spoke to me. I loved the natural pattern of the paper and I knew that it could easily grow with him! We based all the other finishes in the room around the paper and tried to create a calming space for him (and us!)”

In another project Oak Tree wallpaper in white was installed in the stairway and hallway of a historic home in the Minneapolis area. Julia explains “The client valued nature and design that felt relevant to their Scandinavian roots. The paper is just busy enough to be interesting, but really is a gorgeous backdrop for the rest of the home”.
