New wallpaper Misselthwaite

It’s been a busy few months and my new design ‘Misselthwaite’ is finally available to buy! It is a continuation of a theme that it seems I will always embrace in my designs, the eerie strength of nature taking over and the feeling of discovery when the tiny details become clear. There is a mysterious power in the natural world being left to do its own thing, even the tiniest, spindliest vines will become as broad as tree trunks given time…

This design, named after the neglected and un-loved manor house, in Frances Hodgson-Burnett’s novel ‘The Secret Garden’, is about more than this particular story. It is inspired by mystery and enchantment of all fairy tales, the secrecy of what lies beyond what you can see. A locked garden where ungoverned nature has gently reclaimed its sacred space, hidden by vines so thick that no one remembers that it even exists, a secret world to be discovered behind the vines.

I have stepped away from the traditional printing process this time and embraced digital printing, to keep the shades and tones, smudges and mistakes and all the detail of the original pencil and charcoal drawing. With this method of printing, we are also creating much smaller batches so there will also be less waste.

Misselthwaite is available in three colourways- Charcoal, Mist and Forest and is printed on a new ECO non-woven wallpaper, that I am proud to say that we are one of the first in the UK to use. The ECO non-woven wallpapers are made of 79% renewable resources with the remaining 21% being plant based, they are printed at one of the few remaining family run printers in the UK using non-toxic water-based inks.
