It is an honour to work with so many hugely talented and incredibly varied interior designers and architects and to see how they use our patterns in their projects. We hope that this ongoing series of features on the website focusing on interior designers whose work we admire will inspire anyone who is dreaming of decorating their own home.
Today we would like to introduce you to LA based interior designer Mandy Cheng Design. Mandy began her career working in the film and tv industry, including time at Dream Works animation, she did production design for many music videos, as well as graphic design for projects such as Beyonce’s Lemonade and the film Ladybird.
After almost two decades she switched her set design experience to interior design and now specialises in beautifully curated and liveable spaces for both residential and boutique commercial spaces, designing everything from offices, homes and retail stores across the USA .
For this project Mandy has designed a gorgeously relaxed yet sophisticated modern farmhouse in place of an existing property that was too small and didn't suit the owners family life, designed from the ground up. “This particular home is located in Santa Monica, CA, so it’s the quintessential California-modern, coastal escape.” Says Mandy. She needed a wallpaper for the guest bathroom that would make a statement and also be waterproof. So, Seascape in Winter was custom printed on to a vinyl backed wallpaper so that it could withhold splashes of water and there would be a seamless finish that wouldn’t distract from the beautiful bespoke marble sink.
“Seascape was the perfect pattern to fit with the client’s serene, cheerful, and playful aesthetic, while still being sophisticated enough for a room that guests will frequent.”
